Core Location Vocabulary 1.00

Abstract

The Location Core Vocabulary provides a minimum set of classes and properties for describing a location represented as an address, a geographic name, or a geometry. The vocabulary is closely integrated with the Person and Business Core Vocabularies.

Status

This specification was produced by the Core Vocabularies Working Group (Location Task Force), following the Process and Methodology for Developing Core Vocabularies. It has been reviewed by representatives of the Member States of the European Union, PSI publishers, and by other interested parties. Publication of this Final Draft does not imply endorsement by the European Commission or its representatives. This is a draft document and may be updated, replaced or made obsolete by other documents at any time. It is inappropriate to cite this document as other than work in progress.

On 23 May 2012, the Member State representatives in the ISA Coordination Group have endorsed the Core Location vocabulary v1.00, acknowledging the work and promising to further disseminate it at national level. The Core Location Vocabulary is also due to become a work item for the Government Linked Data WG in the very near future.

The conceptual model presented below is independent of any technology that may be used to represent it. It describes the minimal set of classes, relationships and properties necessary to describe a natural person, a business that has legal entity status, and a location.
