FINREP is designed for credit institutions that use International Accounting Standards / International Financial Reporting Standards for their financial statements and that have to provide similar information in the periodic prudential reports they submit to their supervisory authorities.

The taxonomic exchange formats now submitted to the SEMIC.EU repository are based on eXtensible Business Reporting Language XBRL.
