After a successful first edition during SEMIC2020, we are re-organising in the context of the SEMIC 2021 another Interoperability Academy Corner to give the floor to young & promising students & scholars in the domain of semantic interoperability. In collaboration with Georges Lobo and Victoria Kalogirou (IOA, DIGIT), Joep Crompvoets (KU Leuven), Blaž Zupan (University of Ljubljana) & Dejan Lavbič (University of Ljubljana), the Speaking Corner provides an excellent opportunity for juniors to showcase their research and network with peers and EC staff.
During the online SEMIC 2021 conference (December 8th, from 14:00 to 15:00), successful applicants will be able to give a lightning talk (max. 2 minutes) after which the organisers of the session will ask questions and try to create connections with policy and implementation actions at the EC. This way, students can get access to case-studies, large-scale IT testing infrastructure or receive contact details of experts for interviews or focus groups for example.
Any student working on semantic interoperability can apply through this form.
Examples of relevant topics could be (but not limited to):
- linked data specifications
- vocabulary development and alignment
- metadata quality and cleaning
- large-scale data integration and analytics
- case studies focusing on specific sectors (mobility, health, finance, etc)
- critical analysis of policies, governance models, organisational & legal implications of semantic interoperability work by the EC or Member States
You application is done via EU-Survey. The deadline for the submission is Monday 8th of November. Submissions will be selected based on their relevance for the SEMIC2021 conference and community. Participants will be asked to log into the conference platform and present their work with the help of a webcam.
Looking forward to your contributions! Contact email@example.com if you want to have more background information or you want to check whether your topic would be suited before submitting it for review.
