E-Learning Citizen Card: a guideline to enter the digital world (BUK)

E-Learning for E-Government, "The practical guide for your identification in the electronic world", is an e-Learning tool provided by the Austrian Government to ease the handling with legal administrative procedures. The card has two functionalities: identification and signature. With the help of the digital signature the users are able to deal with official authorities via World Wide Web without leaving there working places or their homes. The project was commissioned by the University of Continuing Education Krems on behalf of the Austrian Federal Chancery, europay (paylife) and A-Trust. The guide is available online and was distributed as CD-ROM (circulation 160.000) as well.

Lessons learnt

Lesson 1 - It is form utmost importance to explain the high technical impact of egovernment client software and the still quite complex procedures in a userfriendly way.
