UNESCO talks in Utrecht on open educational technology

A seminar dedicated to open source technology in education will take place in Utrecht, on 5 November 2009. Organised by Stichting Media Plaza in collaboration with the Dutch governmental program NOIV, this one-day event will focus on how the UNESCO is trying to use open source software in developing countries.

Attendees will have the chance to listen to two presentations. The first one, by Abel Caine, programme specialist from the UNESCO Information Society Division - ICT in Education, Science and Culture Section (CI/INF/ICT), will deal with the importance of open technology in developing countries.The second one, by Marja Exalto, will focus on Tsakani, an open source project carried on by UNESCO in South Africa.
