EuropeanaTech Task Force has published its final report on Multilingual and Semantic Enrichment Strategy that gathers results, derives findings and provides recommendations in regards with the metadata quality, the vocabulary used and the improvement of the process.
The semantic and multilingual enrichment of metadata is a main concern of Europeana as it allows improvements in the access to the material but also helps in defining relations between objects and allows retrieval of documents in multiple languages. Therefore, quality remains central in these enrichments in order to ensure consistency of content through different languages. Therefore, it is important to adopt a Semantic and Multilingual Enrichment strategy to exploit the full potential of those enrichments and use them as enablers of access. As a consequence, the EuropeanaTech Task Force focus on a Multilingual and Semantic Enrichment Strategy for enriching metadata fields which bring added value to the users. EuropeanaTech Task Force has published its report that consists of a collection of the results and derives findings and recommendations regarding the metadata quality (source), vocabulary used (target) and the enrichment process.
