Portugal adds document management to citizen porta

Portugal’s Agency for Administrative Modernisation (AMA) has added an electronic document management tool to the eGovernment portal, Portal de Cidadão. The new functionality lets users receive, share and manage certified documents.

The new tool, titled ‘Bolsa de Documentos’ (document bag) can alert users if documents become available, or when they are updated.

AMA announced the Bolsa de Documentos on 18 May. It is intended to facilitate contact between citizens and public administrations, the organisation said in a statement.

To access the new tool, users need to log in to the portal using either their eID card or their smart phone’s eID key. Certified professional such as lawyers and notaries can also be given access.

Bolsa de Documentos is one of the outcomes of Simplex+, the government simplification and modernisation programme relaunched early last year.
