Description (short summary): The report provides a public overview on the outcomes of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) project HearCom (Hearing in the Communication Society) that was conducted from 1 September 2004 until 28 February 2009. One of the main achievements of the project has been the provision of advanced hearing screening tests by telephone and Internet. It was aimed at the harmonisation of hearing diagnostic tests within Europe.

For this, the concept of the Auditory Profile has been developed with several tests for various languages. The project also developed the HearCompanion tool, an online tool for supporting new hearing aid users in their hearing rehabilitation process.
