The multiple PKI Validation platform for electronic signature of the Spanish General State Administration @firma has included the list of recognized certificates of identity and electronic signature that validate the electronic identity (eID) of Austria, Belgium, Estonia and Portugal.

More than 800 e-Government applications of Autonomous Regions and Local Bodies which connect to @firma have now the opportunity to include the national eID of other countries in their digital public services. This enables foreign citizens who reside or work in Spain to access the spanish electronic public administration. This service complies with the Electronic Signature Law, Article 21.3 of Law 11 / 2007 and 25.1 of RD 1671 / 2009.

These services are complementary to the electronic identification services offered to citizens of 15 european countries via the STORK pilot project, which is currently running six EID pilots. STORK aims to establish a European eID Interoperability Platform that will allow citizens to establish new e-relations across borders, just by presenting their national eID. The STORK pilot platform can handle more that 100 different types of electronic identities that currently exist in 15 European countries.
