Driving Co-Innovation the Geospatial Way with Public and Private Sector Data

The digital economy is fuelled by “decision intelligence” enabled through geospatial technologies such as digital twins and location Intelligence, AI and predictive analytics, APIs and IoT platforms. These developments in technology transform policymaking and disrupt public service models. They also provide opportunities for industry decision making and innovation. However, this digital transformation must be firmly rooted in a healthy data ecosystem, capable of supporting more situations (e.g. indoor and 4D modeling), huge data volumes and highly dynamic processing and analysis of data. All this requires effective collaboration between public and private sector organisations and skills relevant for the new ‘geospatial way’.

These developments are seen as highly important at a European policy level through, for example, the Digital Single Market Strategy, the ISA2 Programme, and the upcoming Digital Europe Programme. Within ISA², the Joint Research Centre’s European Location Interoperability Solutions for e-Government (ELISE) action is developing and promoting location data frameworks and solutions for digital government transformation.

ELISE is running this seminar at Geospatial World Forum in Amsterdam, with the aim of developing a mandate for collaboration in the ‘the geospatial way’. As a participant from the private or public sector, you will hear about the latest technology trends fuelling innovation and conditions for effective geospatial co-innovation between the public and private sector, with concrete examples of collaboration and illustrations of what success means and how it was achieved.

You will be invited to share your views with peers during a panel discussion on “How to achieve successful collaboration – the geospatial way”. This will consider what government should do to work with the geospatial industry, how the geospatial industry can contribute to digital government transformation, and what joint actions are needed.
