Multi-stakeholder conference ‘Enabling Civil e-Participation in Europe’ will take place on Tuesday, 8th of December, in the afternoon (13:00 – 17:00) in the European Parliament. The event is foreseen as a half-day afternoon conference followed by a networking cocktail and will be hosted by two Members of the European Parliament: György Schöpflin (EPP, Hungary) and Marju Lauristin (S&D, Estonia). The event organisers are expecting app. 100 guests from across Europe.
The half-day conference consists of two panels: The role of ICT in active citizenship, moderated by MEP Schöpflin (EPP, Hungary), and Digital literacy, access and provision of e-services, moderated by MEP Lauristin (S&D, Estonia).
The main objective of the conference is to bring together policy-makers, relevant EU officials, e-Participation experts and civic activists at national and EU levels to discuss democratic participation in the digital age. This will feed into the recommendations for policy makers on e-Participation in the EU.
