GFOSS DAY 2011 (in Italian)

This is a two-day event about free geographical software, open data and the advantages for public administration.

The conference intends to present the state of the art of Geographic Information System (GIS) Open Source software and of geographic data sharing in Italy while analysing projects and applications of public administration and enterprises.

On the first day several experts will explain the use of GIS and WebGIS software to participants. Particular attention will be given to the applications used in the survey and classification of archaeological excavations. In addition, there will be a forum for discussion designed for government officials who deal with the distribution of geographical data, in accordance with article 52 of the Digital Administration Code (D.A.C).

On the second day a discussion on open data and free software in public administration will take place, in light of the draft regional law on the Puglia Region: different regional systems will be compared, along with current concrete experiences of publishing data with open licenses.

The event is free-of-charge and open to all.
