In the ever-shifting world of public sector digitalisation, e-Government experts, academia and enthusiasts are facing daily challenges in their attempts to locate and deploy technology that would benefit public administrations, citizens, and businesses. The Joinup platform, as an online meeting space for e-Government professionals and a one-stop shop for interoperable, open and free digital government ICT solutions, is positioning itself to successfully tackle these challenges with the help of an important ally – the Interoperable Europe initiative.

Joinup has become the home to Interoperable Europe, the initiative of the European Commission for a reinforced interoperability policy that showcases news and events about government-related interoperability, along with initiatives and best practices that support interoperability and the digitalisation of European public administrations. The initiative is supported by the Digital Europe programme (DIGITAL), which continues and expands the mission of the now completed ISA² programme.

Empowering policy with hands-on tools

The Joinup platform helps to forge a connection between the interoperability policy angle – expressed and covered by the Interoperable Europe initiative – and the platform’s building blocks / solutions that help make the policy a reality. This ideal match does not only prove the platform’s commitment to uphold the core concept of interoperability, but also reaffirms its pledge to support and foster communities of practice in the domain of public services interoperability.

Joinup provides the online place for both policy people and pragmatic doers to tap into its collective knowledge and networking/collaboration potential and to shape the future of the digital transformation of the European public sector. By attracting the technical experts who are at the forefront of interoperability practices – the hands-on practitioners – as well as the ones defining the theory (policy makers), Joinup allows the concentration of a substantial flow of practical expertise and policy prowess.

The Joinup platform – supported by Interoperable Europe – brings together the tools, information, and online location where digital government professionals can meet and collaborate on making Europe more digitally connected, taking advantage of the numerous available ICT solutions and the extended e-Government knowledge base available on Joinup.
