Webinar for data providers: Technical openness

Published on: 05/10/2022 Event Archived

Open data needs to be technically and legally open, and ideally available in bulk in a machine-readable format. This means that published data should be available in electronic file formats or as API that are machine-readable and non-proprietary, so anyone can access and use the data using common, freely available software tools. It should also be available and accessible on a public server, without passwords or firewall restrictions.

Which formats are considered open? What does technical openness mean in practice? How to make your datasets open? How to ensure data quality?

The next webinar in the series for data providers will take place on Friday, 21 October, at 10.00-11.30 CET. During the session, we will guide you through the principles of technical openness and the data management process to help you move from closed formats to open formats of data. We will distinguish between the different formats and degrees of openness and invite data providers, publishers in data.europa.eu, who moved towards technical openness.

This webinar is focused on data providers who may be interested in improving the quality of the data, opening-up their data and make it available in the best format for reuse. It is also open for anyone interested in the topics of open data and technical openness.

To sign up for the webinar, register via the online form.
