The government of Spain's autonomous region of Extremadura and the city of Mérida are sponsoring and involved in the organisation of the 'First Spanish and Portugues Congress on Free Software'. This two day conference is taking place in Mérida on 28 and 29 September.

The organisers write: "This year we have several surprises oriented towards entrepreneurship and fostering relationships and career opportunities. Among others we will have several foreign companies seeking business opportunities and implementation in the region of Extremadura. The event takes place in conjunction with the 5th edition of Joomla! Spain Day held in the same facilities, becoming a landmark event in the field of entrepreneurship and free software community."
