Published on: 05/04/2012

The 7th PEPPOL conference will provide insight into the results and the future follow-up of the PEPPOL project. Interested parties will be provided with examples of pilot achievements and other first-hand information about PEPPOL. The aim is to show decision makers of the European Commission, Member States, public sector entities, suppliers and service providers the long term sustainability of PEPPOL through specific initiatives.

As part of the Large Scale Pilot projects (LSPs) of the European Commission, PEPPOL is building the basis for seamless cross-border eGovernment services in the single market, to realise the goals of the Digital Agenda for Europe. The LSPs were created under the Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICTPSP), a part of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) of the European Commission. The CIP ICTPSP aims at stimulating smart sustainable and inclusive growth by accelerating the wider uptake and best use of innovative digital technologies and content by citizens, governments and businesses. It provides EU funding to support the realisation of the Digital agenda for Europe.   The PEPPOL conference in Rome will focus on plans and initiatives for ensuring continuity of the positive results of the project and for establishing the future governance, elaborating on plans for OpenPEPPOL and the PEPPOL long term sustainability roadmap.   The first day of the conference will focus on the role of eProcurement and PEPPOL in Europe. The agenda will also focus on the main achievements and the future of PEPPOL, development work and piloting efforts.   The second day will focus on the future of large scale pilots, PEPPOL governance and operations, the role of the European Commission and the member states. The set-up of OpenPEPPOL will be described in more depth. A panel discussion on the future of eProcurement in Europe will be held, focusing on the actions necessary to boost the take-up and on the role the European Commission and PEPPOL participants should play.   For registration: http://www.peppol.eu/events/peppol-conferences/7th-peppol-conference/7th-peppol-conference-registration
