Context
This issue has been created in the context of the EFIR project, the extension of the current federation of semantic interoperability assets on Joinup to other layers of interoperability.
Recently, we have run a survey and we have identified several key stakeholder requests for the upcoming extension.
On April 24, a webinar is organised to discuss the requirements for the upcoming extension. These key stakeholder requests will help us guide the open discussions during the webinar.
Stakeholder request: The users should be able to search for interoperability assets from standardisation organisations.
Description
- In order to reduce multiple work, the interoperability assets of the international standardisation organisations should be available in the same repository (single point of access).
Open questions
- How would you like to discover assets from standardisations bodies? E.g. As it is currently implemented in the current federation, meaning via ‘publisher type’ facet? Do you see any other possible options?
- What is the level of quality you are expecting? Few assets but highly reusable? Many assets with good filtering criteria? Etc.
Comments
Could the request be generalised as 'Federated search at EFIR should offer multiple points of access'?
For example, on should be able to search interoperability assets from federated national registry (like RIHA) - without having to discover and search the central access point (Joinup.eu) first.
Technically, it could be easily implemented by putting a link to Joinup.eu search to RIHA opening page.
More tight integration would be a federated search widget (a la Google search).
Single point of access (SPA) versus Multiple points of access (MPA) is important!
