The “European Union Public Licence” (EUPL) The EUPL is the first European Free/Open Source Software (F/OSS) licence. It has been created on the initiative of the European Commission. It is now approved by the European Commission in 22 official languages of the European Union.

Github is one of the biggest open source projects comunity. They have accepted EUPL as elegible in (I've just opened an issue to ask them how to choose EUPL when a new project is created:, feel free to vote for it).


In files it's usual to place the license as raw text. Readme is an important part of open source project let's say "marketing". So a nice format is really important. Please see the difference in this repo:
