Advantages of a URI

No:

ISO 26

Location in the document:

4.4.2 Geographic Identifier (p23)

Description:

The advantage of a URI described in b. on this page, claims that a URI is stored once for all persons, while a string is stored once for every person in a triple store. This is not true, it is the linked data that is stored only once, the URI still has to be stored for every person and a URI string can be considerably longer than a URI, for example, ‘Sweden’ is shorter than ‘http://dbpedia.org/resource/ISO_3166-2:SE ’ (i.e. the URIs take up more space than the names).
