This report was created with the prospect of creating a federation of semantic asset repositories in Europe. This federation of repositories will enable semantic assets stored throughout Europe to be searched and discovered through a single point of access. Such decentralised outlet of semantic assets will provide public administrations other stakeholders, with simple and direct access to semantic assets created by European projects, Public Administrations in Member States, European institutions and standardisation bodies.A detailed analysis of 4 semantic asset repositories was conducted: 1. Digitalisér.dk from Denmark; 2. Joinup from European Union; 3. RIHA from Estonia; and 4. XRepository from Germany. They were analysed according to the interoperability levels defined in the European Interoperability Framework: at the legal, organisational, semantic and technical level. The analysis helped in identifying a set of barriers and enablers to a federation of semantic asset repositories using the Asset Description Metadata Schema. The report concludes with describing how these barriers can be reduced and the enablers can be leveraged to build an effective and efficient federation.
