Modernising public administration through sharing and reuse of IT solutions
In a world transformed by technology and in which everything is linked, public administrations need to co-operate with each other to provide the society with faster and cheaper public services. Having more modern, innovative and efficient public administrations will help recover Europe's growth potential and competitiveness, and establish a Digital Single Market.
Sharing and reuse of IT solutions plays a crucial role in this regard since it enables administrations to develop services more quickly and at a reduced cost. Additionally, it promotes greater interoperability, standardisation and cooperation among public administrations, which eventually results in simpler, faster and cheaper administrative procedures while reducing public expenditure and saving time and effort.
The European Commission invites public administration representatives, legal and procurement officers, providers of IT solutions for public administrations, and all other interested parties to participate in the Sharing & Reuse Conference 2017 to learn about and discuss the means to improve the collaboration among public administrations in the EU. The conference will be held in the Cultural Centre of Belem on 29 March 2017.
Mrs Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, the Portuguese Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernisation, and Ms Gertrud Ingestad, Director General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Informatics, will open the event. We also have the pleasure to host Tony Bosma, a trend watcher and futurist, as a keynote speaker.
Main topics of the conference:
- Policies around sharing and reuse of IT solutions
- Proven technical, legal and financial instruments which help develop shared solutions
- Good practices and success stories of working together
- Exploring the type of collaboration among public administrations, between public, private and non-governmental sectors
The Sharing & Reuse Awards Ceremony, rewarding the best cases of collaboration among public administrations to provide shared IT solutions, will be the highlight of the conference.
