Draft DCAT-AP - your comments!

Draft DCAT-AP minor change release – share your comments!

12/10/2018

We would like to inform you about the recent update of the DCAT Application Profile for data portals in Europe (DCAT-AP). This updated version implements minor change requests to the DCAT-AP version 1.1 which were submitted to the ISA2 Programme of the European Commission in line with the Change and Release Management Policy for DCAT-AP.

The draft version of the DCAT-AP minor change release is available for public review until the 26th of October 2018.

What's new?

The changes implemented in the draft documents for DCAT-AP version 1.2 are related to the comments mentioned in this issue from GitHub.

  1. Changed cardinality for the Licence Document class – Licence type property (dct:type) from 0… 1 to 0…n, and, as a result, more than one concept from the ADMS:LicenceType controlled vocabulary can apply for any licence. The UML schema, RDF and SCHACL distributions were updated accordingly.
  2. UML schema updated with all the cardinalities described in the specification documentation for easier access to the information.
  3. Editorial fix on page 26 of the DCAT-AP v1.2 published documentation (.DOC, .PDF and .ODT formats) where LicenceDocument dct:type property was represented as a mandatory property instead of a recommended property.

How can you get involved?

We would like to invite you to have a look at the draft version of the release and to share your comments. You can download the related documents from the DCAT-AP repository on the GitHub platform and submit your comments to the issue here.

What's next?

All comments received by 26th of October will be evaluated. Once all review comments have been resolved, the final version of the new minor release DCAT-AP (version 1.2) will be published in November 2018.

About DCAT-AP

DCAT Application Profile for data portals in Europe (DCAT-AP) has been developed in the context of the Interoperability Solutions for European Public Administrations (ISA) Programme. DCAT-AP is a specification based on W3C's Data Catalogue vocabulary (DCAT) for describing public sector datasets in Europe. Its basic use case is to enable a cross-data portal search for data sets and make public sector data better searchable across borders and sectors. This can be achieved by the exchange of descriptions of data sets among data portals.
