The European Commission and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will jointly host a conference on public sector innovation, to take place in Paris in November 2018. The conference will coincide with France’s Public Innovation Week, organised by the French government modernisation programme SGMAP.
The EC-OECD conference was announced by SGMAP (the Secretariat-General for Government Modernisation) in its 2017 review. According to SGMAP, the OECD will also revamp its Observatory of Public Sector Innovation (OPSI): “the new website will allow OPSI to be more visible to all public innovators and strengthen these international exchanges.”
The 2017 review also points to France’s Interministerial Directorate for Public Transformation (Direction interministérielle de la transformation publique, DITP), which in May published its 'manifestofor public innovation’. The document outlines threats and opportunities for government innovation. Key principles include a focus on the users, and the building and testing of experimental government solutions.
