Winners to be announced at the Sharing & Reuse Conference Lisbon (Portugal) 29 March
The European Commission has published a list of 17 digital government projects that are shortlisted for its ‘Sharing and Reuse Award’. Of these projects, 8 will win a total of EUR 100,000. The winners will be announced at the Sharing & Reuse Conference in Lisbon (Portugal) on 29 March.
The European Commission launched the Sharing & Reuse Awards contest to reward public administrations that have successfully developed and shared IT solutions with a potential for wider reuse. Over the past months, a total of 118 projects were submitted, of which 96 were accepted.
The selections were made by an evaluation committee for each of the four categories: Cross-border, National, Regional, and Local IT solutions. Of the 17 shortlisted projects, 10 are open source software solutions, and 7 are shared services.
Smart projects from across Europe
Examples include Citadel on the Move, an open source software solution that makes it easy to use open data made created by local public administrations to build smart, interactive and on-demand mobile solutions. Citadel on the Move is created by Issy Media, an IT company owned by the city of Issy (France).
Another contestant is AERIUS, open source software written by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). The tool calculates nitrogen emission and deposit levels, to help reach nature conservation targets.
The government of the Balearic Islands (Spain) is also among the shortlisted candidates with its REGWEB software. The solution makes it easy to register and track official public administration documents, automatically recording their dates of entry and processing.
Shortlisted is also Austria’s Centre for Public Administration Research (KDZ), with its Offenerhaushalt.at - Open Spending Austria. The shared service holds spending and budget data of all Austrian municipalities, allowing visualisation per budget line and track changes over time.
The European Commission’s ISA² Programme is finalising the programme for the Sharing & Reuse Conference. It will be announced shortly.
