First draft of WCAG Evaluation Methodology (WCAG-EM) ready for public comments!

0/5 | 0 votes

The Website Accessibility Conformance Evaluation Methodology 1.0 (for short, WCAG-EM) is being developed by the WCAG 2.0 Evaluation Methodology
Task Force (Eval TF)

The aim of WCAG-EM is to provide a international and harmonised frame of reference for the evaluation of the accessibility of web sites (and importantly, web applications).

Read the EVAL TF work statement for more details!

The WCAG-EM takes as its basis the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) that were published in December 2008.

Part of the development of WCAG-EM is funded through the EU 7th-Framework project WAI-ACT. However, all the consensus-oriented W3C standard development rules apply.

In all, 28 participants are involved in EVAL TF. We have recently published the first draft of the methodology and invite comments from everyone interested in accessibility matters.

Of particular interest are comments by people who regularly audit or evaluate web sites for accessibility (or conformance to WCAG 2.0 or a national derivative of WCAG).

WCAG-EM should be useful in the practical evaluation and conformance assessment context. Practitioners should tell us if they find the methodology workable and tell us what they find missing (they can also tell us what they like about it, of course :-) ).

Not all chapters of the methodology have been fleshed out yet, but any comments on the current draft would be highly appreciated by EVAL TF.

Please comment until 27. April at the public WCAG-EM comments list:
