New online documentation has been published for the test bed. These are a set of thematically organised guides that can be used for reference or self-study to quickly get up to speed on how to use the test bed.

To facilitate the test bed’s use and the work involved in test development, the ISA² Test Bed Action has published as part of its ongoing activities rich sets of documentation on the GITB specifications (its Test Description Language and its common test service interfaces) as well as the user guide for the test bed software. To complement these a set of online guides has now been made available to provide concise step-by-step help on different aspects of test bed use.

These guides are designed to be self-contained and easy to follow, facilitating self-study, instructor-led trainings as well as providing documentation for specific tasks. They are organised in thematically grouped tracks and, although being usable independently, are structured in a way to guide readers through common steps of the complete conformance testing process.

A total of six guides are currently available, grouped in three tracks:

  • GITB TDL track: guides on creating a simple test suite and then extending it for more complex needs.
  • Test bed operation track: guides on the installation and update of a test bed instance.
  • Test bed use track: guides on the use of the test bed by administrators and testers.

The new documentation materials play an important role in getting one quickly familiar with the test bed's key concepts. They provide easy to follow instructions to reduce a newcomer's learning curve when tackling common tasks and a more guided way to approach the test bed's complete documentation.
