The Polish Parliament has agreed with government-proposed changes to laws and regulations, to help transpose rules on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (eIDAS Regulation), agreed upon by the European Union Member States in 2014. Several laws will now be updated, and Poland will also modify its supervision procedure, announces the Ministry of Digitisation.

Under the new regulations, the Ministry of Digitisation will be responsible for supervision of compliance with the trust services, the Ministry announced on 9 September.

The eIDAS Regulation aims to make sure that people and businesses can use their country’s electronic identification schemes (eIDs) to access public services in other EU countries where eIDs are available. It also creates a European market for related services, such as electronic signatures, seals and time stamps, electronic message delivery services and mechanisms for online authentication.

One of the goals of the Regulation is to make it easier to access eGovernment services.

In Poland, the Ministry of Digitisation is to become responsible for the hub that will connect the national services to those in other Member States. The Ministry will also be responsible for communication with other Member States, for example in the event of security issues with any of the services.
