A new version of the Europass XML Schema is released on Monday 16 June 2014. This schema implements some minor refinements, which refer to requests for further improvement of the Cover Letter domain definition, after the first couple of months of use of the new document and online editor.
The updated version is v3.1.1. The schema remains fully backward compatible with the previous version, therefore only a patch version update is required.
The versions of the updated XML and JSON resources can be accessed at the following URLs:
- XML Resources v3.1.1: http://interop.europass.cedefop.europa.eu/data-model/xml-resources/
- JSON Resources v3.1.1: http://interop.europass.cedefop.europa.eu/data-model/json-resources/
Backward Compatibility
Version 3.1.1 is fully backward compatible with version 3.1.0. So, existing solutions producing Europass XML schemata will only need to update the reference to the new XSD.
The same goes for the Europass RESTful API. The change of the XML does not introduce any breaking changes to existing functionality.
A summary of the changes between v3.1.0 and v3.1.1 can be found below. For more detailed information you can consult the v3.1.1 XML Schema Documentation.

EuropassPrintingPreferences.xsd
The format
attribute of the Field
element is enriched with an additional entry that corresponds to a newly added date format.
More specifically, the list of accepted values for formatting dates is enriched to include the value text/long/texts
. This format is used when the address format includes the full day and year numbers, the full month name and also any arbitrary texts. E.g. in French "le 12 avril 2014".
