SCHOOLABY - Open Source distance learning

Top in Estonians E-education under EUPL

Published on: 12/01/2024 News

Known for the quality of their education system, Estonia provides its online E-education tool SCHOOLABY under the European Union Public Licence (EUPL).

Interest of E-education was especially reinforced during the recent COVID pandemics and in case war pushes students away from their schools, as it is unfortunately the case in Ukraine, but even in normal circumstances and for various reasons (illness, trip or expatriation, lack of teachers, break due to sport competition activities etc.) it can be a precious alternative. It ensures constant readiness, also for distance learning with some isolated students. All the study material has been gathered for them to easily complete independently on their side and location, providing them personalized assistance.

Schoolaby is not only designed to support students, but is a tool for teachers for achieving their goals and digitize study management routines: comprehensive study journey logics were created in cooperation between teachers and researchers. Preparing for classes is time and energy intensive, especially when every school year requests building and completing the subject program again from the beginning. Schoolaby provides locations of well-functioning materials kept in the memory, the possibility to improve existing paths every year and to reuse previously well-functioning study materials (digital assets, external links or uploads to video lessons, interesting exercises and games for studying from global learning applications).

All this is available in one place and teachers save time by not starting from scratch in preparing their lessons. Schoolaby performance is widely based on community cooperation, as feedback can be given related to what has been the task list for every single class and ways for improvement.
