To strengthen trust and cooperation between national security teams and share their know-how and tools — these are the main objectives of the project Cyber Security in Danube Region, which was launched on April 1 and will be led by the CZ.NIC Association, which operates the National Security Team CSIRT.CZ. Other project collaborators include organizations from Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia and Moldova.

Implementation of the project was possible thanks to the START programme of EU Strategy for Danube region dedicated to the implementation of international projects in the Danube region. The project, backed by the CZ.NIC Association as the major partner, was one of the 25 selected from the total of 871 submitted projects.

“For the project, the CZ.NIC Association primarily offers its MDM tool (Malicious Domain Manager) designed mainly for regional registers and administrators of top-level domains. As part of our contribution, specialists from CZ.NIC-CSIRT and CSIRT.CZ teams are also planning to share the experience from the security project Turris that has gained a good reputation in both Czech and international Internet communities,” says Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.

Tools that might be of interest to other teams include, for example, Austrian Passive DNS that enables to save complete DNS records for specific IP addresses and domain names.
