EOLE workshop on Open Source legal compliance and public administrations

This workshop will examine how public administrations can get increased benefit from free software through collaboration, in general, and also specifically through the linking of OSPOs.

For public administrations, the obligations when using free and open source software are different in terms of licences & legal compliance, selection of service providers and spending rules.  Public administrations are also different in terms of their culture of often moving slowly, but also having a more favourable position with regard to generation of public goods and collaboration & sharing.

On one hand, some public administrations are now moving very quickly on migrations to free software.  On the other hand, public administrations in general are lagging behind the private sector and there is thus less experience to draw from when questions arise.
