FOSSCOMM, taking place on 21 and 22 October, represents the annual gathering of Greek FOSS communities. It caters to individuals who are actively involved in the realm of the commons but places a primary emphasis on open source. Its primary goals encompass promoting community engagement, showcasing projects related to free and open-source software, disseminating information, and raising awareness about technology-related matters and their impact on our lives. The content of the event is determined by the organizing team and encompass a wide range of subjects, including technical topics, workshops, political discussions, legal and theoretical issues, translations, and anything pertaining to open standards and data. Importantly, participation is completely free, with no registration fee required. Although the presentations are predominantly in Greek, presentations delivered in English can also be found.

Since its inception in 2008, FOSSCOMM has drawn hundreds of participants each year and has been hosted in ten different cities thus far. This year's event is being coordinated by rastapank radio and tolabaki hackerspace, with funding sourced from sponsorships and donations within the community.

If you're participating, take a look at the panel called "AERO: Developing an open-source software ecosystem for the European Processor Initiative hardware", a project born under the Horizon 2020 program and trying to create open source alternatives to existing processor technology.
