Between 21 and 22 August 2021, the 2021 Edition of the FrOSCon, Free and Open Source Software Conference, will be held online. Organised by the University of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg in Germany, the conference will offer a rich programme of lectures on current developments from the entire field of free and open source software, including sessions on administration, security, legal matters and much more.

FrOSCon – Free and Open Source Software Conference

This year, the FrOSCon is organised for the 16th time by the Department of Computer Science at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Germany. Attendees will have a wide choice of lectures on both conference days in 4 streams. In addition, some open source projects’ representatives will offer their own lectures and workshops in their project rooms.

The lectures will focus on the current developments of free and open source software within the following areas:

  • Operating systems development
  • Administration
  • Security
  • Legal issues
  • Desktop
  • Education
  • Remote work
  • GIS
  • Cloud

In addition, there will also be an online social event, “the community corner”, at FrOSCon on Saturday evening (4PM to 6PM). This event will be held mainly in German.

The registration is not mandatory, and the attendance is free of charge.
