Online event: OW2con’21 - Leveraging the European Open Source Ecosystem

Between 23 and 24 June 2021, the OW2 organisation is hosting the 2021 edition of the OW2con, a two-day conference celebrating the European Open Source Ecosystem. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis, this event will be held online. The OW2con’21 will feature numerous presentations from global experts on the use of open source software in modern information systems.

OW2 is an independent and global open source software community and a non-profit organisation, open to companies, public institutions, academics, and individuals. The organisation aims to promote the development of open source software and to foster a vibrant community and business ecosystem in Europe and worldwide. OW2con is the annual event of the OW2 community, now in its 10th year, bringing together technology experts, software architects, IT developers, project managers and decision-makers from all around the world.

The central theme of OW2con’21 is “Leveraging the European Open Source Ecosystem”. The key challenges of ensuring a sustainable European open source ecosystem will be addressed through a series of presentations on the following five key themes:

  • Developer topics
  • Open source technologies
  • OW2 projects spotlight
  • Using open source responsibly
  • Open source ecosystem

All presentation will be given on 23 June, followed by a half day of break-out sessions on 24 June, including a roundtable on open source governance and the OW2con Best Projects Awards.

Join the OSOR team on 23 June at 4.30pm for a presentation of the " Guidelines for Sustainable Open Source Communities in the Public Sector", a practical tool that can be used by public sector officials interested in establishing or joining open source communities, or by members of such communities.
