Waldur

Waldur is a cutting-edge open-source multi-cloud marketplace designed to streamline the management of various cloud environments, including private clouds, public clouds, HPC centres, and IT infrastructure, all through a unified platform. With Waldur, service providers can exercise resource governance and oversight, while offering end-customers a user-friendly self-service environment.

Key features of Waldur include native support for the OpenStack cloud toolkit, SLURM resource allocation, Rancher Kubernetes Clusters, Remote desktop capabilities with OnDemand and the ability to execute custom deployments via scripts. The platform also offers seamless integration with OIDC, allowing compatibility with various IAM solutions, such as the open-source IAM platform Keycloak as well as eduGAINs MyAccessID. This facilitates access not only to academic institutions through eduGAIN but also to national identity providers via eIDAS, including eduID Sweden.

Waldur's native support extends to organisation and project management, complete with billing capabilities, user self-service options, and a robust support desk. Additionally, the platform is continuously evolving, with plans to introduce a dedicated application portal tailored for academic resource allocation in the near future.

In summary, Waldur aims to simplify the complex task of managing resources in multi-cloud environments, making it easier for organisations to allocate, govern, and utilise resources efficiently while also offering a user-friendly experience to end-customers. This also extends outside the organisation's initial networks, enabling the sharing of resources between multiple organisations, HPC centres or government clouds for more effective resource usage for departments, nations or organisations.
