We would like to inform you about the recent update of the DCAT Application Profile for data portals in Europe (DCAT-AP). This updated version not only implements major change requests to the DCAT-AP version 1.2.1, which were submitted to the ISA2 Programme of the European Commission in line with the Change and Release Management Policy for DCAT-AP, but also applies updates following new developments at W3C level.
The draft version of the DCAT-AP major release is available for public review as from today 4th October until 4th November 2019.
What’s new?
The changes implemented in the draft documents for DCAT-AP version 2.0.0 are related to the comments mentioned in the following issues:
- DCAT-AP-64: In dcat:Dataset, dct:temporal has been made recommended
- DCAT-AP-9: In dcat:Dataset , dct spatial has been made recommended
- DCAT-AP-3: In dcat:Catalog, dct:spatial has been made recommended
- DCAT-AP-40: A new property: dcatap:availability has been added to dcat:Distribution class This property indicates how long it is planned to keep the Distribution of the Dataset available. It MUST take one of the values: temporary, experimental, available, stable.
- DCAT-AP57: http://labs.mondeca.com/vocab/voaf has been updated to http://purl.org/vocommons/voaf
- DCAT-AP-58. The following namespaces were not used and have been removed from the rdf/xml.
- DCAT-AP-49: Change cardinality of properties:
- dcat :accessURL, Cardinality: 1..n ®1..1
- dcat :downloadURL, Cardinality: 0..n ® 0..1
- DCAT-AP-45: The ADMS change type vocabulary http://purl.org/adms/changetype/
(:created, :updated, :deleted ) does not exist and has been removed from the specification.
- DCAT-AP-55: in SHACL shapes dct:language was pointing to skos:Concept, has been corrected to point to dct:LinguisticSystem
- DCAT-AP-46 Use sh:targetClass in the mandatory classes SHACL shapes instead of sh:targetNode
