Report: Deployment of a Shibboleth Identity Provider

This report comes from the “Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) for Data and Services in EU Public Administrations” project launched by the JRC as part of Action 1.17 of the ISA Programme, A Reusable INSPIRE Reference Platform (ARE3NA).  

The report outlines the process of developing key functions of the AAA testbed, adding more detail to D3.3a and the Access Management Federation (AMF) approach. The report focuses on the on how to put in place the Shibboleth technology for an Identity Provider (IdP), alongside other documents covering setup for a Service Providers (SP, who provides access to data) and a Coordination Centre (who helps the trusted exchange of access details in the access federation).

The main content of the report outlines the resources and prerequisites for the IdP setup and how to install the Shibboleth IdP, SSL certificates & Apache configuration and the Tomcat Configuration. Details of Shibboleth IdP configuration for the intranet and federated cases are also provided. The document closes with a description of the run and test settings for the IdP.
