YUCCA Smart Data Platform is the platform of Piedmont Region designed to offer to public and private actors tools to experiment and create technological solutions and innovative services connected to data.
It is a cloud self-service platform enabling you to develop applications based on Big Data. It allows aggregating data from the Internet of Things, the Internet of People (social network), the systems and from public and private institutions.
YUCCA was designed and implemented by CSI-Piemonte starting from open source technologies, in modular logic and adhering to the reference standards in the IoT and Big Data.

Available as a Platform-as-a-Service in the Cloud infrastructure of CSI-Piemonte, YUCCA is also released in Open Source logic (with EUPL 1.1 license) and accessible on the Github public repository for reuse and/or alternative implementations.

YUCCA provides selective sharing of the information collected (private/shared/open), allows self-service processing of data in real-time and allows data analysis tools (Complex Event Processing for Real time analytics and big data analytics) and supports the exposure of information (data and metadata) via API. Information is collected in a Big Data Storage according to security and privacy standards (GDPR).
YUCCA is dedicated to companies, public administrations, research centers and all public and private entities interested in developing new applications based on data deriving from the Internet of things (IOT), from systems, enriched by open information (public or private).
In particular:

• Companies, startups, institutions and research institutes, universities and developers in the world of open and big data;
• Public institutions for the implementation of innovative services on data enhancement, on the integration of heterogeneous data and on the creation of new knowledge tools useful for decision support.
• To those who using open or shared data already present in the platform: they can experiment with algorithms to create new knowledge, new data and services.

The YUCCA platform can implement multiple Digital Ecosystems, intended as a community of actors that interact and exchange information and services in order to develop their business objectives by exploiting the value of data. The actors or organizations can be of different nature (public or private).
Each Actor or Organization, depending on the initiative or context rules, can manage its own work area (tenant) in which it is possible to operate on all types of resources that the platform makes available, such as Smart Object, Stream, API, Data.

YUCCA is also used as a regional platform for the management of the open data of the Piedmont Region and of all the other institutions of the territory that subscribed to the regional open data policy. As regional open data platform, it is natively integrated with the national platform (data.gov.it).

YUCCA has been designed, developed and provided in compliance with the reference values in the open source communities.
