The eGovernment Innovation Centre (EGIZ) was started in September 2005 as a joint initiative of the Federal Chancellery and the Graz University of Technology, at the Institute for Applied Information Processing and Communications Technology (IAIK). Since then, the EGIZ has supported the Federal Chancellery in further development of the ICT strategy of the federal government, and it conducts research in the area of technical innovations in the eGovernment environment. The IAIK has always dealt with a great variety of topics dealing with IT security and can also look back at many years of experience in the eGovernment field. Key topics of the EGIZ Further education and information Strategic and technical consulting for public administration Technical support for regional authorities Participation in international cooperation projects Promotion of interoperability at an international level Stimulation of synergies with the domestic economy.
