Helps manage projects co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund

In November, the Spanish government put into production Galatea, a cloud-based grant management tool to help the country’s public administrations manage projects that are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The launch of Galatea was announced by Spain’s eGovernment portal. The application is made available as a service.

The first version of Galatea lets users manage grant applications for the call published by Spain’s official gazette (Agencia Estatal Boletín Oficial del Estado) in October, dealing with ‘Strategies for Integrated Sustainable Urban Development’. These projects will be co-financed by the ERDF, using its 2014-2020 funds for sustainable growth.

Galatea is the outcome of a joint-project between Spain’s Secretaría General de Administración Digita (General Secretariat for Digital Administration) and the Dirección General de Fondos Comunitarios (Directorate General of Community Funds). The two organisations agreed this summer to work together to channel these grant applications.

The bodies hope that Galatea will “substantially improve efficiency and simplify the grant application process”.
