On the 13th of June 2023, the BDTI Team met with 34 students from the AI4GOV program to help them learn about how to engage with data analytics.

But first, what is AI4GOV?

AI4GOV is a master’s program in Artificial Intelligence for Public Services (AI4Gov). It is funded by the European Union and developed by four leading European universities in the fields of digital, technology, and engineering science (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in Spain, Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi) in Italy, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in Germany, and Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) in Estonia.)

34 of their brilliant students joined us for a presentation on the Big Data Test Infrastructure.

The BDTI Presentation

The BDTI Presentation was divided into five sections and aimed to go beyond a simple presentation of BTDI. It included firstly a section on public sector information and the role of data analytics and its challenges. It also touched upon in a second section on the policy context, by providing an overview of the EU legislation in the field of data, touching upon namely the data strategy, the open data directive, the data governance act. Thirdly, it mentioned its context I.e., its funding through the Digital Europe Program and more concretely the objectives of the BDTI. Fourthly, the presentation showed concretely how the BDTI can be used to finally conclude on the importance of building data analytics communities.

Through each of these presentations, the BDTI Team takes the opportunity to better understand the needs and concerns of public administrations. In this context, the AI4GOV students have the particularity of having, for most of them, experience in working with public administrations and through discussions bring to the table valuable insights from their experiences.
