eTranslation is a machine translation tool that helps public administrations and businesses exchange information and documents across all official EU languages, Icelandic and Norwegian.

Public administrations, citizens and businesses in the EU will thus be able to benefit from digital services in the language of their choice.

eTranslation can be integrated into the workflow of cross-border digital services, and is now freely available to all European SMEs. eTranslation's machine translation tool is widely used by European Commission civil servants and can also be used freely by any civil servant working in a public administration from the EU, Iceland or Norway via the  website to translate documents and text snippets.

eTranslation provides the following benefits:

  • High quality machine translation based on decades' worth of work by EU translators
  • Confidential and secure, passing the Intellectual Property Rights of the translation back to the owner of the original text submitted for translation
  • Quality of service: fast translation into multiple languages at once
  • Flexible: compatible with a large variety of formats (doc., pdf., etc.)
  • CEF Funding is available to support implementation in cross-border digital services and the contribution of multilingual language resources to improve the quality of the service
