The administration of France’s Eure-et-Loir Department has implemented Nuxeo, an open source enterprise document and content management system. The solution is used to exchange documents between the department’s services and, sometime next year, also with partner-organisations.

The Department of Eure-et-Loir is one of the most recent public administrations in France to implement the document management system.

For Nuxeo, the firm that offers maintenance and customisation of the eponymous software, France’s Ministry of Agriculture is one of the oldest user references. The company is now involved in four different projects at the ministry’s headquarters in Paris. About 1000 of the ministry’s staff are working with Nuxeo, for managing and exchanging documents, and for dissemination of official correspondence and memorandums.

The ministry also use Nuxeo for making available all the documents published in the Official Bulletin of the Ministry of Agriculture and all circulars, notes and instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The company recently published a customer case study on the Ministry of Agriculture.

Among France’s ministries, the ministry of Agriculture is one of the major users of free and open source software. It has been using this type of software for over a decade, including database management system Postgresql, the suite of office productivity tools LibreOffice and IT infrastructure monitoring tool Nagios. The ministry also makes its own software available as open source, mostly components for geographic information systems (GIS). One example is Orion and Orion-Géo, tools to combine business and GIS solutions.
