European IT security talents…
Teams of budding IT security specialist have begun preparing for the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC). The 150 winners from national competitions will gather for the final tournament, to be held in Málaga (Spain) from 30 October - 3 November. This year teams from 12 EU Member States and the EFTA countries Lichtenstein, Norway and Switzerland ar participating in the hacking contest.
In Austria, for example, the qualification to participate started on 8 May, and will run until the end of August. The country will select its team, the best 10 school students and 10 university students…

Civil society is a “pivotal agent in the transformation of the EU”, a representative of Cyprus - who has not been named - said in her opening speech at a November debate which took place in Cyprus. The main theme of this debate, organised by the NGO Support Centre, under the European U-Impact project (From Citizen Involvement to Policy Impact) was “Civil Society and the EU”. The U-Impact project basically gathers citizens’ views on EU policies and explores the relationship and engagement between civil society and EU. Join’s EU’s ‘Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs’ An alliance of 80 Cypriot public institutions, trade groups, ICT companies and NGOs hopes to boost the number of ICT professionals in the country. The group will help carry out an action plan to fill an increasing number of ICT job-vacancies. In November, Cyprus and 12 other Member States joined the EC’s ‘Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs’.
