Reflecting on the First Session of the BDTI Essentials Online Course

BDTI Online Course: Session One Recap

Published on: 07/02/2024 Last update: 13/02/2024 News

Last week, we kicked off "Enabling a Data-informed Public Sector: An Introductory Course to BDTI Essentials" with an engaging first session. With a turnout of over 170 people from EU Member States and around the world and spanning sectors, the session was packed full of learning and interaction.

In the session, participants learned how to find, access and start working with multiple open datasets from data.europa.eu, the European Data portal, the first step in the data analysis journey. We introduced our use case, analysing multiple open datasets to build a dashboard that explores funding and initiatives for green projects in highly polluted European cities.

The level of engagement throughout was truly inspiring, showcasing a keen interest and enthusiasm among participants for harnessing data analytics in the public sector. The session sparked insightful questions and comments, ranging from practical tool usage within the BDTI environment to considerations around selecting the appropriate tool for the job and capabilities for handling data.

The course is already meeting a vital need for knowledge and skills development in this area, and we're looking forward to building on this momentum in upcoming sessions.

Stay tuned for more updates as we dive deeper into the world of data analytics in the public sector.
