International Conference on Semantic Web and Information Systems - SWEBIS2013

The objective of the First International Conference on Semantic Web and Information Systems is to promote the exchange of ideas, prototypes and experiences among the community of researchers, students, entrepreneurs and professionals interested in the design, development and deployment of methods, platforms and algorithms applied in innovative Information Systems and technologies for the Semantic Web.

The Semantic Web is a W3C driven movement that seeks to provide standards, methods, algorithms, tools and a framework that allows information available on different data sources (originally in the Web) to be shared, understood and reused by different software applications, businesses and communities, regardless of the heterogeneity of computing environments in which they are deployed. The Semantic Web addresses the design and application of ontologies, reasoners, description languages​​, rule languages​​, logic-based languages ​​to describe and annotate public resources on the Web. The goal of the Semantic Web is to provide meaning to public resources on the Web, enabling data retrieval, intelligent information processing and opportune information delivery to users.

Research topics covered by this conference are related with all aspects of the Semantic Web that are relevant to the Information Systems community. The central themes of this conference incorporate current innovations and advances in the areas of: artificial intelligence, natural language processing, soft computing, databases, information retrieval, social networks, distributed computing, Web engineering, among others.
