TED contains tenders information, such as business opportunities and award notices, published by public authorities in the EU. It is the online version of the ‘Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union’ and is managed by the Publications Office of the European Union.

Users can look on TED for business opportunities, e.g. contract notices, through a web application or by downloading information in the XML format.

TED data is available to anyone for commercial and non-commercial reuse and is free of charge. A recent Commission study on high-value data identified TED data as a high-value dataset.

In order to improve the services offered to reusers of TED data, the Publications Office aims to provide TED data as a service using linked-data technologies. In so doing, the Publications Office aims to help stimulate the creation of value-added services based on this data.

To ensure that this new TED service meets the requirements and the expectations of reusers, the Publications Office invites organisations and private businesses, entrepreneurs and researchers to share their input with regard to the following.

  • Information requirements: i.e. what (additional) information should be made available by TED,
  • Desired functionalities and features: i.e. what functionalities and features they would like the new TED as a LOD service to provide, in terms of search APIs, supported data formats and so on.

The ISA Programme of the European Commission is supporting this ambitious project through its Action 1.1 on semantic interoperability.
