.SE (The Internet Infrastructure Foundation) has started a pilot project within the Open Data field, to encourage and strengthen future and existing Open Data initiatives in Sweden. The project aims to analyse existing web solutions for Open Data, learn lessons from system owners and create a prototype offering services for data management, data cleaning, API access, virtualisation of data and discussion forums. The objective is to provide an infrastructure to make Open Data easily accessible and usable regardless of the background of the user.

The development of the Internet requires, among other things, an open flow of information and open standards. Currently there are many projects for Open Data, mainly regarding public data. Most projects aim to support and to facilitate the work with Open Data, but many could be operated more efficiently. Despite considerable efforts in this area, there is still a great need for training, services, coordination and accountability.

.SE is an independent organisation that is responsible for the Internet's Swedish top-level domain (.se), including domain name registration, and administrative and technical operations of the national domain name registry. The .SE pilot project is running from 1 January 2015 until 31 August 2015. For more information (in Swedish) on the .SE pilot project, click here.
