The 9th edition of SEMIC, the annual semantic interoperability conference, will take place in Helsinki, Finland on 21 October 2019. The event, organised by the ISA² Programme of the European Commission in collaboration with the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU, will bring together policy makers, IT practitioners and researchers interested in topics related to semantic interoperability for public administrations. The theme of SEMIC 2019 is ‘Linking data spaces for citizens’.

SEMIC 2019 will explore the idea of trans-European data spaces available to public administrations. These spaces create a frame for experimenting and implementing interoperable cross-border digital public services.

The 9th edition of SEMIC will showcase how public administrations connect these data spaces, cooperate and co-create solutions for innovative and citizen-centric digital public services.

SEMIC 2019 participants will discover two angles of how semantic interoperability comes into play in trans-European data spaces. Firstly, we will highlight the opportunities of innovative technologies for digital public administrations, with a focus on artificial intelligence. Secondly, we will be sharing real-life stories on the transfer of information between public administrations in Europe and the world enabled by semantic technologies.
