The Polish towns of Bydgoszcz and Sosnowiec are the first two to host a public access point for eGovernment services, Poland’s Ministry of Administration and Digitization (MAC) has announced. The access points are placed in the town’s post offices, offering citizens access to various services, such as requesting an ID card, getting a copy of a marriage certificate or setting-up a new businesses.

The centres also offer round-the-clock wireless Internet access.

Users of the Digital Activity Centres will first be required to create an account on Poland’s eGovernment services platform ePUAP.

The access point in Bydgoszcz was opened on 8 September by MAC Minister Andrzej Halicki. In total, the Ministry aims to open 500 such centres across the country.

Makeover

In July, the Ministry of Administration and Digitization unveiled the new ePUAP platform (ePUAP2). The platform has been revamped, to make it easier to use. The platform’s services are now faster, and the search function has been improved, according to the Ministry. The new platform is also cheaper to maintain.

The ePUAP platform is rapidly becoming popular. The number of new trusted profiles created daily has tripled from 400 to over 1200. The platform is now used by over 1 million users, and can sustain 20,000 simultaneous users. The system generates some 2 million documents per year.

The platform will soon also offer new eGovernment services. Examples include requests for electronic Health Insurance Cards, request for income tax status reviews, applications for driving licences and requests for the reuse of government information.
